A 2024 study by Quantum Connections™ and Sentient Decision Science reveals that a connected workforce has lower attrition rates, increased engagement, and higher profitability. Specifically, connected employees are more likely to contribute ideas, admit mistakes, and take calculated risks. They are also less likely to think about leaving their employer and tend to stay longer, reducing rehiring and retraining costs. Fully connected workforces experience significantly greater profitability than disconnected ones.

Dennis S. Holland, CEO of Quantum Connections, says the study demonstrates that  “the relationship between employees and their direct supervisors is crucial for organizational success.” These conclusions are similar to those found in a recently reported study on the impact of employee voice in industry. See:  ESM: Research Report Highlights the Importance of Voice.
Quantum Connections
Sentient report conclusions are based on a survey of over 12,000 employees across 49 industries for Quantum Connections, which says it offers live and on-demand training, coaching certification, and resources to foster authentic connections.

The survey finds that when employees feel seen and heard by their direct supervisors, both human and business outcomes improve dramatically. The survey did not attempt to calculate the actual cost benefits to the organizations but rather the sources of potential savings through retention and engagement.

The study introduces a new Net Connected Score (NCS) to measure how seen and heard employees feel on a scale of 1-10. The companies believe this score is a primary motivator of behaviors that drive high-performing teams. Sentient Decision Science says that the human connection component of NCS makes it superior in predicting business outcomes compared with existing employee satisfaction and engagement measures.
